Bay Swim 2023

The 4.4-mile Great Chesapeake Bay Swim (GCBS) takes place on the second Sunday in June. Up to 2019, the entry process was managed by Lin-Mark Sports. The 2020 and 2021 swims were canceled due to COVID-19. The swim is now managed by RunSignup.


Completion Awards


10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 35 Completions
All swimmers with 9, 14, 19, 24, 29 or 34 previously recorded Bay Swim finishes receive a specially inscribed award plaque upon completion of their next Bay Swim.

Background Information


What is the Bay Swim?
The Great Chesapeake Bay Swim (GCBS) is a 4.4-mile open-water swim across Maryland's Chesapeake Bay.  The annual event is held on the second Sunday in June.

The Earley Years
Brian J. Earley founded what is now the GCBS with a solo swim in 1982.  He has participated every year since to further the causes for which the event was created.
