The
4.4-mile Great
Chesapeake Bay Swim (GCBS) takes place on the second Sunday in June. Up to 2019, the entry process was managed by
Lin-Mark Sports. The 2020 and 2021 swims were canceled due to COVID-19.
The swim is now managed by RunSignup.
The 2024 swim was canceled due to unsafe conditions. Organizers are planning for a swim in 2025.

Awards
10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 35 Completions
All swimmers with 9, 14, 19, 24, 29 or 34 previously recorded Bay Swim finishes receive a
specially inscribed award plaque upon completion of their next Bay
Swim.

Background Information
What is the Bay Swim?
The Great Chesapeake Bay Swim (GCBS) is
a 4.4-mile open-water swim across Maryland's Chesapeake Bay. The annual event is
held on the second Sunday in June.
The Earley
Years
Brian J. Earley founded what is now the GCBS with a solo swim in 1982. He has participated every year since to further the
causes for which the event was created.
